There will be a billion Peeps this year

Spring is coming, and that means a few things.

Spring is coming and that means a few things. First, it means that the Mets are about to mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Secondly, it means that we can get snow today, but look at the forecast and see a high of 61 predicted for Monday. Oh, and it also means it's just about time to stuff our faces with colored marshmallows that look like baby chicks.

Yeah, it's time to stock up on Peeps. Just Born Inc.—the genius company behind Peeps and Peanut Chews—posted record sales in 2012 and things are still looking up. A million Peeps isn't cool. You know what's cool? A billion Peeps.

While the company churns out more than 1 billion Peeps this Easter season — a record — it sees the 60th anniversary as another marketing opportunity and a chance to connect with its fans. In addition to the TV ad campaign, it's ramping up social media promoting a Facebook survey that asks knowing questions like this one: Do you like your Peeps fresh, frozen, or "aged to perfection"?
