The 'fat old guy creep' that won that Taylor Swift contest swears he wasn't trolling

"Charles Z" is the guy who rose to Internet fame earlier this week when Boston's Kiss 108FM canceled a meet-and-greet opportunity with Taylor Swift because the "integrity of the contest [had] been compromised." Basically, a 39-year-old guy entered the contest and trolls from the deep Internet (i.e. 4chan, Reddit) took matters into their own hands and rigged the contest in his favor.

After emerging victorious from a field of competitors who are probably lamenting their summer reading list before entering seventh grade, Charles Z spoke with the folks at GQ to explain how the whole fiasco unfolded. And, he says, he has no idea who posted the original plea for votes to 4chan.

When did you find out that all of this was happening?
Everyone I know emailed, texted, Facebooked, Tweeted, and/or sent me a Western Union telegram at the same time to let me know I was all over the Internet.

Was your motivation simply to meet Taylor Swift?
I thought it would be fun. Seriously. That's it. And it was fun. At one point the leaderboard was 50 happy 13-year-old girls, then there's a picture of me, hungover, in my bathroom. That's good stuff.

Have you ever been to a Taylor Swift concerts before?
I've never been to a show, but I think she's great. Her music is fun. We've all had our hearts broken, and she makes sadness into dance songs. She seems like a sweetheart.

It turns out that the "fat old guy creep" is actually just a middle-aged guy with an affinity for Taylor Swift and a wonderful sense of humor.

Charles Z goes on to speak fondly of the 4chan folks for voting for him, takes a shot at John Mayer for being in his 30s when he dated Taylor Swift, and admits that, while he originally had no intention to do so, he would feel obliged to sniff Taylor Swift's hair should he ever meet the singer.
