South Park creators launch $300 million 'Important Studios'

Trey Parker and Matt Stone—the guys behind South Park and Team America and The Book of Mormon—have launched their own $300 million studio called Important Studios. The group's first project is reportedly a film adaptation of The Book of Mormon.

Parker and Stone announced the news with the type of barb we've all come to expect from them and their characters.

“Having worked with several different studios over the years, we came to realize that our favorite people in the world are ourselves.”

The New York Times recently published a piece extesively detailing the new venture and what it means for South Park, The Book of Mormon, and the entertainment business at large.

If you're not picking up what Stone and Parker are putting down, you're strongly advised to check out 6 Days to Air—a documentary on the production of South Park that is currently available on Netflix.
