Robinson Cano fired Scott Boras to sign with Jay-Z's new sports agency

(AP)

On Tuesday, news broke that Jay-Z's Roc Nation is teaming up with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for a new sports agency venture. The partnership will be coined Roc Nation Sports and already has its first client because Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano has fired Scott Boras and will reportedly sign with the Roc. Also, this:

Sources say Jay-Z himself is planning to be a certified agent, first in baseball and eventually in basketball and football. In order to represent clients in basketball, he would have to give up his small share of the Brooklyn Nets.

Cue Illuminati jokes. Cano is in the final year of his $57 million deal with the Yanks. The club made an offer through Boras over the winter, but it didn't really go anywhere. He'll be represented by CAA Sports Baseball group, per the partnership's initial launch. But, Roc Nation Sports is going to be its own company.

Now, we get to look forward to Hov and company bargaining on Cano's behalf for a monster deal at the end of the 2013 season. Plus, how awesome is it going to be when athletes get to start throwing the Roc up after touchdowns and alley-oops? The vision of Jay-Z and Brian Cashman arguing about OBP+ over cigars in a Yankee Stadium office could spawn enough Moneyball fan fiction to last a decade. [ESPN]

Joe Camel aka Jay Z an Agent? ha! "teaming up" means CAA with do all the work. And his small share of the Nets is only $1mil, less than 1% of the team.

Really not a political issue!! Cano's talent is what matters here. He can / will get any deal he wants ultimately, regardless of the agent...........

Look I don't give a twit for Boras, Jay-Z or Cano, but I read all these stupid, ignorant and defaming comments about Jay-Z and can't help but wonder if he's as "dumb and stupid" as most of you geniuses say he is, how come he has so much money and all you have are your nasty comments? Hmmm! You're nothing but a bunch of typical Philadelphia losers.

I thought you needed to have a law degree to be an agent.

Jay Z is a successful business man who made his money in entertainment, why do people feel the need to insult him because he's expanding his interests. What real value or expertise do traditional sports agents have anyway?
