Q&A with Temple alum featured on the BET Awards
On her first trip to Los Angeles, Becky was given star treatment and granted attendance to the 15th Annual BET Awards. But BET had one more surprise for the Temple alum.
While watching the BET Awards on Sunday night, my ears pricked up when I heard that the fan winner on stage with TV personality Terrence J was from Philly. With rapper Meek Mill, "Empire" star Bryshere "Yazz" Gray, a Patti LaBelle surprise and Amber Rose shining on the red carpet, the awards show was already saturated with the City of Brotherly Love. The onstage fan looked familiar, but I shrugged off the thought until I took to Twitter and saw my timeline going crazy. We had a few mutual friends and it turns out Rebecca, who goes by Becky, and I graduated from Temple University in the same class.

How did you win a trip to LA for the BET Awards?
You had to show them that you embodied swag, style, boldness and excitement in a 15-second video on Instagram using the hashtag #BETAwardsNissan. [The video] is on my Instagram @_beckybuckwild. It's public so everyone can see it.
For how long were you in LA?
I was out there for a few days. I arrived Saturday, June 27 and will be returning Tuesday the 30th.
What contest did you enter to win the trip to the BET Awards?
The contest was called the BET Nissan Award.
Were you allowed to bring anyone with you? If so, how many people could you bring and who did you bring?
I was allowed to take one person with me and I took my boyfriend.
Did you walk down the red carpet and did BET provide you with any special accommodations?
I was supposed to get on the red carpet but I never made it there due to time constraints. I was provided with airplane fare and hotel accommodations.
Terrence J surprised you by announcing you won a brand new 2016 Nissan Maxima. When you got on stage did you really have no idea you were getting a car? When did actually you find out?
I had some idea that I had a possibility of getting a car due to it being a Nissan contest, but I didn't have any actual proof due to it not being mentioned in the contest rules. I actually got [confirmation that I was getting a car] right on stage.
I see you met Rihanna! What was it like to meet her and did you meet any other celebrities?
I met plenty of celebrities including Keyshia Cole, Floyd Mayweather, Stevie J, the entire "Blackish" crew and, of course, Terrance J. Everyone was really sweet and congratulated me on my win. It was truly an amazing experience.
