Peeps-flavored milk is a thing now

In a move that rivals Wawa’s decision to sell pizza in its sheer implausibility, Bethlehem-based candy producer Just Born has crossed over into the dairy aisle with its newly released Peeps-flavored milk. Somewhere, someone’s prayers have been answered.

In a move that rivals Wawa's decision to sell pizza in its sheer implausibility, Bethlehem-based candy producer Just Born has crossed over into the dairy aisle with its newly released Peeps-flavored milk. Somewhere, someone's prayers have been answered.

Dairy company Prairie Farms teamed up with the Peeps candy maker to release the limited-edition line of Peeps milks, which are currently available in Marshmallow Milk, Chocolate Marshmallow Milk, and, most confusingly, Easter Egg Nog. Which, of course, begs the question: Why?

"Creating a line of flavors that joins the two strong brands was an obvious choice," a press release explains. "Our customers want variety and we're thrilled to partner with Peeps."

Peeps-flavored milk is currently only available in the Midwest, which saw a release earlier this week. And, interestingly, early reviews indicate that it may be "pretty good, actually," according to one St. Louis area reporter:

That "pretty good," however, comes from upwards of 37 grams of sugar per cup — more than three times that of a regular serving of whole milk, which averages around 11 grams of sugar. An entire 12-oz. bottle of Coca-Cola, as USA Today points out, contains 39 grams of sugar total. Though, it still does contain the 8 grams of protein regular whole milk contains, so Peeps milk has that going for it, at least.

Social media, of course, indicates a mixed reaction, with equal parts disgust and intrigue. However, we're going to have to go with West Philly native Questlove on this one:
