Eagles calendar features Riley Cooper for Black History Month

"If anything, it was an honest mistake.”

Update as of 5:17 p.m.: The Eagles have released a statement on the team calendar:

"We do not oversee the production of the annual team calendar. We do not provide any input about the players who are featured or where those pictures appear in the calendar. The NFL licenses the production of that calendar to a third party and we do not have an opportunity to review the material."

"If anything, it was an honest mistake."

That's what Eagles PR rep Brett Strohsacker told TMZ about a controversy over the featured photo of Riley Cooper for Black History Month on the Eagles' 2015 team calendar.

At a Kenny Chesney concert in 2013, Cooper was caught on camera using a racial slur, and the incident quickly went viral. While he apologized and was fined for his inexcusable behavior, local and national media focused on the incident as Eagles players and others around the league expressed their concern for Cooper's actions.

Strohsacker told TMZ that an outside company organizes the calendar, and the Eagles are trying find out why Cooper was the choice for February.
