Dr. Phil wants to know if it's OK to have sex with drunk girls

On Tuesday, Dr. Phil posed a question to Twitter to gather opinions for an upcoming episode of his television show, which is, apparently, still a thing that people watch(?). "If a girl is drunk, is it OK to have sex with her?" he tweeted, asking people to reply to the message with "#teensaccused".

As you might expect, this meant that it was feeding time for the trolls. People (justly) responded by both punking the hell out of him and chastising him for having to pose the question in the first place. You can check out the hilarious and/or outraged responses thanks to a Storify from Jodi Gersh. You should be warned that this happened on Twitter and people were upset, so, the language is, um, colorful.

Eventually, after the tweets had been deleted and the chaos had fizzled down, one of Dr. Phil's reps responded to a BuzzFeed piece on the matter saying, "This tweet was intended to evoke discussion leading into a very serious show topic. It was not intended to be taken lightly. It's based upon a recent news story, hence the #teensaccused label."

Thanks for enlightening us. [h/t USA Today]
