The New York Post has an exclusive report detailing Dan Marino's supposed affair with a CBS employee.

The married gridiron great — a pregame analyst for CBS since 2003 who will be doing this Sunday’s Super Bowl broadcast — sired a love child with a network underling and then paid her millions to keep quiet, sources have exclusively told The Post.

At the time, Donna Savattere was a 35-year-old production assistant at the CBS Sports studio in Manhattan. She and Marino began an affair and, in 2005, Savattere gave birth to Marino's daughter, Chloe. Marino came clean about the affair on Wednesday.

Marino yesterday admitted to his dalliance.

“This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then,” he told The Post in a written statement. “We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.” [NY Post]

Why "love child"? How do we know they loved each other? Why not just "child"?

Tarheel, it's tough to cut through the usually stupidity on these boards, but you did so beautifully. Cheers to you, sir.

If Tiger Woods did something like this, he'd lose his endorsements and have to do 1,000 hours of community service. Nice double standard, sports writers.

Hey Edward...maybe if Marino's wife chases him with a nine iron and finds out he has a girl in every city he'll lose his Isotoner and NutiSystem and maybe even Papa Johns endorsements. Then you can gloat.

How 'bout dat ! Hmmmm ? Dano Nutrisystem Marino....just think if he was smart enough to get a $500.00 procedure, CHLOE NEVER would have happened, the MIami Superstar would be millions of dollars richer, but because he was STUPID, all the poop hits the fan! All the misery, heartarche & extortion could have been avoided all because #13 wouldn't get his pocket nuts cut! Make you wonder! You want to play, roll in the hay, do a little number at the end of the day....you better make sure your fish are dead before you leave the bed! Stupid id stupid does ! Who's next.....Bill Cowher...hmmm....were those stories true about Cordell Steward's wife ? The real reason WHY Cowher stepped away from coaching & moved down south, far away from the madding crowd...hmmm?

So why is this the public's business. He met all his legal and personal obligations in the matter. This has no effect on how his does his job. It doesn't effect how the women does her job either. The NFL and CBS employees are not required to be "perfect" in every aspect of their lives. This is just "tabloid" salacious gossip. The only person this matter should really concern is Marino's wife.

Depending on what policies the network have on employee fraternization, these actions could have left the network vulnerable for a sexual harassment lawsuit. It also could have resulted in negative publicity for the network. Furthermore, had relations soured between Marino and the baby mama, it could have poisoned the work environment, prompting executives to step in. Or maybe his wife found out and might have caused a ruckus at the office.

I wonder why this is being made public now. If Mr. Marino claims that he and the baby mama and his wife are all good, then what incentive would any of them (or any of their associates) have to leak this story to the media?

Superstar athletes will often have carte blanche with females, and sometimes this results in affairs and out of wedlock children. News at 11.

I can just see it now....in the stands at the Super Bowl...right B4 halftime....somebody in the seats raises a card...it says....Question: Did Marino get CUT by the Dolphins or did he do it himself ? Somebody else raises : Answer: No & CHLOE ! Then the whole place goes into WAVE formation, each section raising a card with a letter: V - A - S - E -C -T - O - M - Y. Dummy !
