Comedian Hannibal Buress discusses his Bill Cosby bit, ensuing death threats on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Comedian Hannibal Buress stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday night to talk about, among other things, his Bill Cosby bit that "snowballed" and "really put a crimp in [Cosby's] dating life" recently, as Kimmel put it.

"It's definitely a weird situation," Buress said.

And by "weird situation," Buress means "one that results in death threats." But, as he told Kimmel, those threats aren't always as upsetting as they first seem. Mostly, they turn out to be just awkward.

"You know," Buress said, "the weirdest thing about getting a death threat from a male bodybuilder/stripper on Facebook is when you click on his profile and see that you have one mutual friend and having to hit your friend up and say, 'Hey, man, can you tell your buddy to stop saying that he's going to murder me?'"

Buress, of course, is the man behind the October 2014 standup bit told in Philadelphia that essentially reignited discussion about the sexual assault allegations against Cosby we see today. Cosby, for his part, has issued denials through his reps.

"I guess I want to just at least make it weird for you to watch Cosby Show reruns," Buress said in his bit last October. "I've done this bit on stage and people think I'm making it up. ... When you leave here, Google 'Bill Cosby rape.' That s--- has more results than 'Hannibal Buress."
