Mass. sees Philly's wedding brawl, raises it four arrests and a baby shower fight

Baby showers typically call for folks to bring the mother-to-be gifts. Not having personally attending many baby showers, I know only what I see and hear on the moving pictures and in magazines.

Baby showers typically call for folks to bring the mother-to-be gifts. Not having personally attending many baby showers, I know only what I see and hear on the moving pictures and in magazines. There's lots of oohing and ahhing over onesies and rattles. Everyone wants to put their heads against the mother's tummy. They gossip. If the mother is insufferable, she might even reveal the gender of her baby by cutting into a pink or blue cake in front of everyone.

In Stoughton, Massachusetts, though, they do baby showers differently. Like, by smashing furniture, throwing bottles, and brawling with 14-year-olds. Four people, including the teen, were arrested and brought up on charges including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer after an incident at a baby shower.

Police say they responded to a function hall in Stoughton at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday and found as many as 200 people involved in the fight they say was sparked by uninvited guests. The fight, involving women, went on in front of children. Sgt. Daniel McGowan called the scene a ''nightmare.'' [Boston.com]
