The Internet: have you heard of it? Maybe not. Good thing we've got Al Gore to hold our hands and give us a dime tour. The former vice president has a new book called The Future. In it, he writes of intergalactic warfare, flying cars, meal pills, global networks.

In an excerpt published over at The Atlantic, Gore discusses—you guessed it—our future. He speaks of the "Global Mind," describes the Internet as an, "extension of our brains," and drops a Nathanial Hawthorne quote in for good measure. You should check it out. Plus, it's Friday afternoon, so you're not doing anything really important, anyway.
