A-Rod and a bunch of other athletes turned up in alleged PED dealer's records
Hey, get ready for another A-Rod steroids story because, duh. The Yankees third baseman's name turned up—along with a slew of his constituents—in the records of a alleged Miami-based PED dealer. Alex Rodriguez, Gio Gonzalez, Melky Cabrera, Wayne Odesnik (tennis, read a book), and others have reportedly been linked to the anti-aging clinic, Biogenesis. And by "anti-aging clinic," the Miami New Times means, "front for HGH distribution."
They were given to New Times by an employee who worked at Biogenesis before it closed last month and its owner abruptly disappeared. The records are clear in describing the firm's real business: selling performance-enhancing drugs, from human growth hormone (HGH) to testosterone to anabolic steroids.
The clinic's chief, 49-year-old Anthony Bosch, had his name pop up in connection with steroids back in '09 when Manny Ramirez ('member him?) tested positive for banned substances. Also, he keeps incredibly detailed records that help to offer gems like a line noting A-Rod's name and a payment of $3,500 listed directly above, "1.5/1.5 HGH (sports perf.) creams test., glut., MIC, supplement, sports perf. Diet."
And Bosch's glowing praise of his own abilities.
"Dr. Tony Bosch is recognized as an international educator and world-class leader in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy," reads one description, which also praises him as a "pioneer in orthomolecular medicine" and calls him a "molecular biochemist."
If your afternoon is wide open, head on over and read all about Anthony Bosch's life from conception to what he ate for lunch while you were reading the first paragraph in their bajillion page report.
Gio too, huh? I thought his fastball had more zip. Now I know why. Bartleby
Why should we be surprised? Oh, A-Rod will probably be forgiven in some circles. He is such a liar, a la Lance A., Barry B., Sammy S., Rafeal P., Roger C., Mark Mc., etc, etc. Say 'no' to HOF! ginzo
No surprise there. Anyone who is better than average is doping. truthfirst
The interesting part is that this comes right on the heels of Frank Thomas' comments ripping those players who used PEDs and whether they should be in the HOF. It kind of makes you appreciate even more a player like him, who has never been linked to or suspected of using PEDs, but still put up ridiculous numbers. There are few of those guys left. Roll Tide!
Unless baseball strikes their records from the books they all deserve to be in the Hall. It's up to MLB NOT the Hall. As long as Bonds is the Home Run King he should be in the hall. Take away 1/4 of his homers and he is at 500? Remove 1/4 of Clemens CY awards and he is at 5? Still worthy. jmh729

The Big Hurt was awesome. CaptAwesome
jmh, take away 1/4 of Pete Rose's hits and he's still over 3000. This has nothing to do with statistics, it has everything to do with playing fairly and bringing fame and not infamy to the game itself. It's not a hall of statistics. We have several websites that we can turn to for that. As far as I'm concerned, these guys have done more harm to the game than the Black Sox of 1919, because not only did they skew game results, they caused an entire generation to question the integrity of every on-field achievement we saw. In short, they ruined it for everyone. Bobby G
So a pediatrician can pump infants full of all sorts of substances, many of which we know little about possible side effects; but since the FDA's pockets have been lined by big pharma, its all good. Athletes knowingly put themselves at risk in exchange for performance today... FDA not getting a piece of the action... cheaters! mike
take away Gio for 50 games... palmyra21
PED dealer 101....put a bunch of big names in your list of clients and then when you get caught you can plea bargain if you make stuff up and thrown someone under the bus. Nothing is believable unless you draw the blood in front of a jury and prove it...thanks OJ Friend to All

Where's warbiscuit to lambast Ruben Amaro for letting Gonzalez get away? dwp66
As Gomer Pyle would say,
Golllllly! Surprise ! Surprise! Surprise eyesell
I've always been a big fan of Gio Gonzalez, so what I'm about to say has nothing to do with hitting the man while he's down. A few days ago, I posted that the Nationals and Braves were probably the pre-saeson favorites to win the NL East but a few slumps and/or injuries could turn these teams into the 2012 Phils. Today's news proves my point. Players get over slumps and injuries and, echoing the philosophy that you're only as good as your last game, many players never get over being accused of cheating, doping or appearing to be someone they're really not. This news is going to hurt the Nationals in a big way, and Gonzalez's career forever. Endoresments, forget them. Public speaking engagements, forget about them. Hall of Fame, forget about it. If a merry-go-round doesn't have a brass ring, it's hardly worth riding. If Gonzalez has to forfeit his chance to do it all, from whence will he derive his motivation. The Phils are going to be forced to deal with the repercussions from Ruiz's use of performance enhancing drugs, but Ruiz has been suspended for shorter period of time than Gonzalez will if there is sufficient evidence to suspend him. Ruiz is a position player. Gonzalez is an ace starting pitcher. There's already talk about the Yanks trying to void A-Rods contract after his name surfaced with Gonzalez today. This is not going to pretty for either of these guys, or their teams. Don't look now, but he Nationals perch atop the NL East's loft just became a bit precarious. onthebucks
