'4-D free fly' Batman ride will send folks head over heels

Roller coaster designers are always trying to outdo what's been done before.

Next year's most-talked about ride might be Batman the Ride at Six Flag Fiesta Texas in San Antonio.

The name is hardly original, but this torture track leaves riders suspended to the side, where "magnetic fins" can set their seats into vertical spins, as they're taken over two drops that go beyond 90 degrees. (The giant yellow undulating  track wraps underneath itself.)

This "totally immersive, high-speed Gotham City adventure. ... delivers a brand new coastering experience that is the only one of its kind in the world," according to the announcement.

You'll have to watch the video at the top of this page to get a good idea.

Theme Park Insider says the best new Six Flags ride might be the Twisted Colossus, the world's longest hybrid coaster, opening in 2015 at Six Flags Magic Mountain, north of Los Angeles.
