What to do at the Devon Fall Classic

If the Devon Horse Show — an 11-day equestrian competition and county fair — was the meal, the Devon Fall Classic is the dessert. A shorter event, this year running Thursday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 13, the Fall Classic offers the same lively action but in a short and sweet package at the Devon Horse Show Grounds (23 Dorset Road, Devon).

If the Devon Horse Show — an 11-day equestrian competition and county fair — was the meal, the Devon Fall Classic is the dessert. A shorter event, this year running Thursday, Sept. 10, through Sunday, Sept. 13, the Fall Classic offers the same lively action but in a short and sweet package at the Devon Horse Show Grounds (23 Dorset Road, Devon).

Competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, Friday, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept. 13, and at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.

In between the jumping and racing, the Fall Festival will provide early-autumn activities. There'll be music, a Sept. 11th tribute, and Golia Vodka bar (and tasting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.).

Like any good festival, this one's got vendors. Pick up goodies from The Vintage Fox, Malvern Saddlery, HOME-ology, Louella and more.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, bring your pooch — and make sure he's on his best behavior — for the What a Good Dog Contest at 11:30 a.m.

Kids won't walk away from the classic without an opportunity to get a horseback ride. Well, not exactly. Pony rides will be offered from 2 p.m. to 5 pm. On Saturday, Sept. 12, and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Round out the weekend with a fall plant sale beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.
