There’s always a story my dad tells to me and my friends whenever we all sit down on the back porch and he talks about the old days. As a teenager, him and his friends went to see Blood, Sweat and Tears the day before New Years Eve 1969 at the Filmore East. The opening band was okay and there was one left, some Southern band. The curtain opens and there are two drummers, one amazing guitar player and the band known as the Allman Brothers.

Could that be happening at Johnny Brenda’s this weekend? Yes, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti are the headliners and they’re a great band but all eyes will likely be on their direct support, a small group of three girls from Brooklyn. Vivian Girls have become the most talked about group with girls in the title since the Brits with a certain “spice.”

Also playing are Tickley Feather from West Philadelphia.

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti with Vivian Girls and Tickley Feather start at 9:30. 4.3.09 at Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave. Tickets: $12. 21+.
