Two big shows, one big night: Freeway and Nite Jewel

It’s 10am on Monday morning but for some reason I feel like I’m at the coolest after-after-party that the Lower East Side has to offer. This is what Nite Jewel does to you. Halfway between electro-pop and Portishead lies Nite Jewel and they’ll be at Kung Fu Necktie tonight. This is music to drink absinthe to. I haven’t liked goofy synth sounds this much since Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

After months of delays (it was originally slated to drop this past summer) Freeway and Jake One are putting out their new record The Stimulus Package. Seemingly, the whole album is up for streaming on MySpace and after a few listens this thing is pretty awesome. Tonight marks the record release show at the Trocadero with special guest State Property and a special spot from Brother Ali.

One night, one city, two highly-anticipated shows.

Nite Jewel and Instimatic, starts at 8pm. 2.15.10 at Kung Fu Necktie, 1248 N Front Street. Tickets: $8. 21+.

Freeway and Jake One, The Philly Stimulus Package Release Show, starts at 9pm. 2.15.10 at the Trocadero, 1003 Arch Street. Tickets: $14. 18+.
