A few ways to spend your week in (and out of) Philly.

Monday, Sept. 7

Close out Circus Week at Morris Arboretum's (100 E. Northwestern Ave.) Garden Railway by watching the miniature train, decorated in circus theme, loop and ride down a quarter mile of track. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. 

Enjoy all the entertainment of the ballet without the stuffiness of a theater. The Atlantic City Ballet hit the boardwalk at Kennedy Plaza (in front of Boardwalk Hall, 2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City) for two free performances at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 8

The National Constitution Center (525 Arch St.) is so much more than a museum. Frequently bringing in speakers to discuss present and past issues, the center welcomes Harvard Law professor and former Administrator of the White House Office of Administration and Regulatory Affairs Cass R. Sunstein to discuss democracy and extremism in the age of digital media at 6:30 p.m.

An adults-only playtime at the Franklin Institute (222 N. 20th St.) gives new meaning to the term "green with envy." Every iteration of the color green — in relation to money, ecology, snot — is explored at Science After Hours from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 9

Geek out. Seven local sci-fi authors will discuss Philly's role in producing science fiction and fantasy work. The discussion will be moderated by science thriller author Jon McGoran at the Free Library of Philadelphia's Central Branch (1901 Vine St.) at 7 p.m. 

What else do you have to do on a Wednesday night but to soak in the atmospheric sounds of Philly alt four-piece Howlish? Enough jam for a steady head-nod without getting too stadium rock, expect new tunes from their upcoming LP. They're playing at Boot and Saddle (1131 S. Broad St.) with New York City outfits A Valley Son and Owl & Wolf at 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 10

It's football season! Hang out with Brian Westbrook, Jeremiah Trotter, Swoop and Eagles Cheerleaders at Xfinity Live! (1100 Pattison Ave.). The night includes the unveiling of the Eagles Cheerleaders swimsuit calendar and meet and greets with the cheerleaders and players starting at 6 p.m.

Winter is coming. Test your Game of Thrones knowledge with trivia at the Victoria Freehouse (10 S. Front St.). Prizes will be awarded for first place, second place and best costume, so there's no excuse not to go all out. Make your reservations for one of two sessions: 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Themed food and drink items include Deviled Dragon Eggs, Red Wedding Punch and Lannister Lemonade.

Friday, Sept. 11

Audience participation isn't only recommended, it's required at this silly on-stage spoof of the Keanu Reeves-starring Point Break. A member of the audience will be chosen to play the lead role of Johnny Utah immediately before the 7 p.m. show hits the stage at Underground Arts (1200 Callowhill St.). 

See the 1950 prison-themed film Outside The Wall in the location it was actually filmed: Eastern State Penitentiary (22nd St. and Fairmount Ave.). The film screens at 8 p.m., courtesy of movie club Secret Cinema.

Saturday, Sept. 12

Not only do over 100 shows go on sale at the Kimmel Center (300 S. Broad St.) on Saturday, but they'll be throwing a big party to celebrate. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., performers like Aizuri Quartet, the Fresh Cut Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra and the Philly Pops will play throughout the building. Also see a snippet of "Matilda The Musical" and hear talks on the evolution of a rock concert and the state of the arts in Philadelphia.

You reveled in Le Bok Fin's (1901 S. 9th St.) views at twilight over a few drinks, now witness the city during the daytime during an 11 a.m. yoga class at this pop-up rooftop bar.

Sunday, Sept. 13

BYODog to Raging Waters Water Park (3501 Boardwalk, Wildwood) when pups take free reign over the water park from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Water bowls and free treats will help keep Fido fed while they're doggie paddling. It's all for a good cause too, all proceeds will benefit the New Jersey SPCA.

Get lost in the dense psychedelia of Philly's Ecstatic Vision, who support Ruby the Hatchet and Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats at Union Transfer (1026 Spring Garden St.). The show starts at 8 p.m.
