For the first week in June, Philly's got an eclectic mix of excitement. From arts to pop-ups to free cupcakes, here's what to expect from Monday, June 1 through Sunday, June 7.

Monday, June 1
Local musicians can network and mingle at a monthly social gathering at Boot and Saddle (1131 S. Broad St.) from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This one features Ted Talk style presentations on drumming. Of course, there's beer.

Tuesday, June 2
One of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's summer pop-up gardens opens with a party from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The space, outfitted with recycled bike parts, reclaimed wood and flower show memorabilia, is located at 9th and Wharton Streets. Grub on fare from Cantina Los Caballitos and grab a few drinks courtesy of Royal Tavern.

NPR series "Intelligence Squared" comes to the National Constitution Center (525 Arch St.) to debate on the Equal Protection Clause which does not require states to license same-sex marriages. Guests John Eastman, chairman of the National Organization for Marriage and Sherif Girgis, co-author of "What is Marriage?" will argue for the motion while Evan Wolfson, founder and president of Freedom to Marry, and Kenji Yoshino, NYU School of Law professor, will argue against. ABC News correspondent John Donovan will moderate the debate which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, June 3
Try out a new set of wheels. Benelli Classica Italian electric bicycle gets it's Philadelphia debut at NinoBrand Atelier (333 S. 20th St.). Give the motorized bicycle, who's speeds reach 20 mph, a test ride between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Being multi-lingual may help you during this First Person Arts StorySlam, but then again, all of the tales will be translated into English anyway. Eight storytellers will recount memories in a variety of languages, which will, in turn, be translated into English during the event that starts at 8 p.m. at International House (3701 Chestnut St.).

Thursday, June 4
Help support The Food Trust in their mission for nutrition with a 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. fundraising happy hour at Yards Brewing Company (901 N. Delaware Ave.) that includes free brewery tours, drinks, food and raffles.

PHS's second pop-up garden, returning to 15th and South Streets with an all-new design, will reopen with a 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. party with a spread of meats and cheeses from Dietz and Watson and craft beers from Barren Hill Brewery.

It's almost impossible to ignore the hype that's been building around Mad Max: Fury Road. Cinemug (1607 S. Broad St.) is getting into the action with a throwback. They'll be screening the original Mad Max starring Mel Gibson at 8 p.m. (and also again on Friday).

Friday, June 5
Start your Friday with a sugar high. To celebrate the opening of their new location at Jefferson Station (12th and Filbert Streets), Tiffany's Bakery will give away free cupcakes to the first 1,000 customers to arrive after 9 a.m.

Nerd culture influencer, Chris Hardwick — you may recognize him as the host of "The Nerdist Podcast," "@midnight" on Comedy Central and "Talking Dead" on AMC — comes to the Trocadero Theatre (1003 Arch St.) for two standup performances: 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Saturday, June 6
Show your dog, cat, chicken, pig, etc. you care by bringing them to Weavers Way's (559 Carpenter Ln.) Petapalooza from noon to 4 p.m. Festival favorites like music, games and food are expected.

This isn't your grandma's bingo. A fancy-shmancy version of AIDS Fund Philly's monthly GayBINGO nights ups the ante with a black-tie evening at the Crystal Tea Room (100 Penn Square East). Featuring six games of bingo, entertainment from the lovely Bingo Verifying Divas, silent auction, dinner and dancing, the event will also raise funds for regional HIV/AIDS services. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 7
Wine novice no more. Crossing Vineyards (1853 Wrightstown Rd., Newtown) hosts a 2 p.m. class for vino newbies where you'll taste and learn a thing or two about the variety and pairing of the beverage.

We all scream for ice cream…bowls! Teachers from University City Arts League (4222 Spruce St.) have created artful ice cream bowls that hungry visitors can purchase and refill to their hearts' content from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mister Softee, Bassetts Ice Cream, Milk and Honey, Little Baby's and more will offer up the cold stuff.
