Whenever you see a major company acquiring a much smaller one you worry about the intergrity and creativity of the latter. When it comes to clothing companies, this is even more prevalent. Warriors of Radness, a clothing line started by Freshjive creator Rick Klotz, has crafted a line that is both recognizable but at the same time very unique and inspiring. Over the weekend however, it was announced that Klotz had sold WOR to the massive domestic clothing company American Apparel. To announce the sale, Warriors of Radness sent this email to their fans:
"That’s right. We’ve sold our souls to the largest manufacturer of garments in the USA: My old friend Dov Charney and his American Apparel Company have adopted the the unruly West Coast bastard stepchild of California Style: Warriors of Radness. We now have the muscle of an almost 600 million dollar behemoth of garment manufacturing behind us. Eat you heart out."
If that doesn't make you believe everything will be ok, they have created a video to accompany the announcement. Check it out below.
It will be interesting to see what direction WOR heads in now that they are backed by American Apparel. Stay tuned for more info and updates about the deal.
