Support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with ‘The Big Lebowski’-themed bowling fundraiser

Dude, let’s go bowling.

Dude, let's go bowling.

There's only one place in Philly where you can channel the bowling prowess of The Big Lebowski and that's at Saturday, Aug. 29's The Dude Hates Cancer charity bowling tournament. All donations and charitable team registrations will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. How's that for a strike?

Here's how it works: Teams of 6-10 bowlers will knock down pins over the course of a three-hour session at South Bowl (19 E. Oregon Ave.), all the while trying to accrue the highest score possible. Whichever team tallies the highest total wins the tournament. Teams can sign up for one of two sessions: 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Register your team here.

Would rather sip on a White Russian than avoid gutter balls? The event is open to the public, and you can get in on the event's other festivities: prizes, silent auctions and a raffle for the Philly Restaurant Pass — a $1,600 value that features gift certificates to 24 Philly eateries.

After the lanes clear out (the event wraps at 8 p.m.), head to Jackie Treehorn's After-Party. Held at Underground Arts (1200 Callowhill St.), this concert, open to the public and fund-raiser participants, will feature performances from local acts Suburban Living, Sleek Machine and Residuels. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.

The Dude abides.
