Sunday's engagement: Lovesick Expo makes stop at World Cafe Live

The holidays and New Year brought us not only happiness and family comforting, but also brides-to-be. For those who just got engaged, planning can be a total pain, but luckily for us, on Sunday, Jan. 11 World Café Live (3025 Walnut St.) hosts the Lovesick Wedding Expo, a show not for the typical ballroom bride.

This expo will take visitors through the latest trends in weddings but not so much the gushy Cinderella-themed galas. What to expect? Think of industrial-type settings, rustic-color-themed palettes, alternative wedding invites, and everything else that doesn't scream stereotypical.

Over 35 vendors are confirmed for this year's expo; here are some that will be in attendance.

Little Baby's Ice Cream

Who doesn't love ice cream? With a Little Baby's Ice Cream cart at your wedding, not only will you get a great tasting dessert, but you'll also impress your guests with the cool flavors like Earl Grey Sriracha, pizza, and seasonal flavors like Irish potato.

Hand Painted Weddings

Watercolors always look so great on pretty much anything. Hand Painted Weddings creates customized invitations, thank you cards, guest prints, and more, making your wedding more personal than using the typical cards you order online.

Cake Life

If gag cake designs like Miley Cyrus swinging on a wrecking ball is your idea of a wedding cake, the folks at Cake Life will create the cake of your dreams. Not only do they do fantastic themed cakes, but they also make delicious naked cakes too.

Open Aire Affairs

If you plan on getting married when the grass is greener outside, Open Aire Affairs is a great event location provider for those who want a venue outside. The venues offered cover the Philadelphia area all the way to Montgomery County and some worth mentioning are the Pearl S. Buck Estate, Sand Castle Winery, and Ash Mill Farm.

Confetti and Co.

These planners will help start that engine in your brain and build ideas and themes perfect for your wedding. The results you get will not have you second guess your big day, and you'll be sure to thank them in the long run. These girls are a great go-to if you don't think you have time to communicate with every vendor and aspect of your wedding.

Darling and Pearl

Specializing in screen printing, Darling and Pearl will make memorable wedding gifts -- such as personalized tote bags, koozies, and even pillows if you want to do that -- for your guests.

Love'n Fresh Flowers

What's so special about this flower company? Instead of picking out in-store flowers or ordering a large quantity weeks in advance, the folks at Love'n Fresh Flowers will grow flowers specifically just for you. That's right, you choose the seeds and they will grow them only using organic methods right in their Philadelphia fields.

Joshua's Catering

Face it, you need to eat, and you should eat darned well on your wedding day. Joshua's Catering will provide you with numerous choices for any diet restrictions you have. Oh, and they also won WeddingWire's Couples' Choice Award of 2014.

Ready Luck

Your countdown toward the wedding day will fly, and so will the actual day, so photos are a must. This media company will get to know you and make sure your documentation of your wedding is up to expectation. Each photographer has their own style, which is great because not every couple has the same taste.

North Bowl Lanes

Located at 909 N. 2nd St., North Bowl Lanes is a great venue to host your after-party. Instead of trying to please everyone at the reception with some live band, this bowling alley will have something for everyone to keep occupied with. Rent the upstairs loft and enjoy pool tables, air hockey, arcade games, four private bowling lanes, a swanky lounge area, and a VIP bar.

Besides the vendors, a live burlesque show from The Peek-A-Boo Revue will happen onstage as well as live music from the Marc Silver Band and American Deluxe. Expect giveaways throughout the event, too.

The Lovesick Expo starts at 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. Don't leave the men at home -- this expo is fun for all. You must be 21 or older to attend.
