Sunday funday: Places offering Super Bowl specials around Philly

Super Bowl XLVIII champs, the Seattle Seahawks are set to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Although the majority of people in Philadelphia will be rooting for neither, Super Bowl Sunday brings friends and family together for a watch party that typically includes tons of drinks and food.

If you're not going to a house to watch the game, a large number of bars and restaurants are offering drink specials during the championship. Choose your favorite location and enjoy the big game.

Bank & Bourbon (1200 Market St.)

For $25, enjoy the Super Bowl in the lounge and Bank & Bourbon's signature burger, a local draft beer, and a shot of bourbon hand selected by the restaurants Bourbon Master.

Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest (101 South Columbus Blvd.)

This is a perfect location for the whole family. The Winterfest will play the game on two big screens in the lodge with $3 draft specials and free popcorn. Kids will be able to play arcades and ice skate throughout the game as well.

Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.)

If you're a loyal soccer fan to this bar, watch the game here. The German Brauhaus will have a giant projector screen set up for all those to view the game plus a spread of pork rinds, roast beef, meatballs, wings, and more for $20. Beer specials start at $5.

BRU Craft and Wurst (1318 Chestnut St.)

BRU will play the game on their projector screen and sell $5 American craft beers, and $5 dips and sandwiches. If you haven't heard about the building's newest addition, soon-to-open U-Bahn, you'll get a sneak peek of the basement venue, too.

Catelli Duo (12101 Town Center Blvd., Voorhees, N.J.)

Beginning at 6 p.m., the restaurant will offer a tailgate buffet with varieties of wings, pizza, sliders, and more. Bar specials for the evening will be included as well. The buffet will cost $25 per person.

Cavanaugh's Headhouse (421 S. 2nd St.)

If free food is what you desire, Cav's is your spot. From 5:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m., enjoy a free Super Bowl buffet and drink specials priced at $3.50.

City Tap House Logan Square (2 Logan Square)

The bar will whip up two team-based food specials for the evening. A Seattle Dog for the Seahawks, and New England clam chowder for the Pats. $5 craft beer will be on special as well as beer giveaways each quarter of the game from Goose Island, Brooklyn Brewery, Great Lakes, and Harpoon.

Chickie's and Pete's (All locations)

The popular sports bar famously known for their crab fries are offering drink specials and an all-you-can-eat buffet during the game.

Cook and Shaker (2301 E. Albert St.)

Trot to Cook and Shaker for $5 tots and half p-iced drink specials during the game. These aren't your typical tots either. Flavors include: Port Richmond tots topped with sauerkraut, kielbasa and served with spicy mustard; pizza tots topped with marinara and mozzarella; and chili tots topped with beef-and-bean chili.

Dock Street Brewery (701 S. 51st St.)

Watch the game on the brewery's large screen and munch down on pizza specials, and sip beer specials, too.

ELA (627 S. 3rd St.)

Wing special alert: Wings will be priced at $10 a dozen and flavors to choose include honey Sriracha and lime, chipotle-salted caramel, miso mustard, Old Bay, and classic hot sauce.

El Vez (121 S. 13th St.)

The restaurant will serve smoked chipotle chicken wings and chili nachos during the game.

Field House (1150 Filbert St.)

Priced at $35, wings and craft beers can be enjoyed during the entire game.

Franky Bradley's (1320 Chancellor St.)

Aside from the usual menu offered, Franky Bradley's is offering $1 off all drafts throughout the game as well as food specials featuring choices of mini lobster rolls, and a sweet Italian sausage sandwich with toppings.

Manny Browns (512 South St.)

Watch the game here and enjoy 40 cent wings and $2.75 pints of Miller Lite.

McGillin's Olde Ale House (1310 Drury St.)

If you have a Supermug from this previous season, mug refills will be for $1 Bud Light drafts during the game. If you don't have a mug, Yuengling and Bud Light pitchers will cost $7 throughout the game.

Me N Mo Meatballs and More (214 South St.)

The South Street restaurant will offer $1 Buffalo chicken meatballs and Hong Kong meatballs, and $1 off homemade lasagna. Sip $5 red and white wine, or $4 selected bottled beer if that's what you crave.

Nick's Roast Beef Old City (16 S. Second St.)

Pay $40 and enjoy unlimited domestic drafts and well drinks, as well as a food buffet featuring build-your-own roast beef and pork sammys, wings, hummus, taco dip, shrimp, and more. The standard menu is also available but is a pay-as-you-go.

Palladino's (1934 E. Passyunk Ave.)

East Passyunk's new restaurant hosts its first Super Bowl party and will have food items on special, such as potato skins, calamari, pizza, and more. Drink specials to enjoy are $4 Peroni drafts, $9 blood orange screwdrivers, and at halftime receive a complimentary shot.

Perch Pub (1345 Locust St.)

Watch the game on Perch Pub's projection screen with bar specials featuring $4 selected pints, $3 shots, pub snacks, and half-priced wings. If you're a dedicated fan to either team, show your colors and get prizes throughout the game.

Gaslight (120 Market St.)

The bar is offering happy hour drink specials featuring $3 drafts and domestic bottles, $5 selected glasses of wine and cocktails. Wings will be offered as a food special running at $12 a pound.

iCandy (254 S. 12th St.)

The bar will offer $1 Jell-o shots, $5 Jack Daniel's shots, and $10 beer towers or you-call-it drink pitchers during the game. Enjoy a game-day buffet at halftime.

London Grill (2301 Fairmount Ave.)

London Grill will offer discounted bar food featuring wings, nachos, and chili and beer specials that include $1 off drafts, $4 Miller High Life pounders, and $4 domestics.

Red Owl Tavern (433 Chestnut St.)

Super Bowl specials will feature game-day inspired food, plus drink and shot deals will be available for purchase.

SliCE (all locations)

All three locations will play the game in their dining rooms but specials vary. At the Rittenhouse location (1740 Sansom St.), a purchase of four pies of any variety will get you a fifth pie free. At the Washignton Township (137 Egg Harbor Rd.) and South Philly (1180 S. 10th St.) locations, enjoy multiple wings and pizza specials. Guests could choose the tackle for $29.95 that includes 25 double -ooked wings and one pizza; or the Field Goal which comes with 25 double-cooked wings, fries, and mozzarella sticks; or the largest packaged entitled the Touchdown that comes with 50 wings and two large plain pizzas.

Square 1682 (121 S. 17th St., Hotel Palomar)

The restaurant will have specials on a signature cheesesteak short rib sandwich and a bucket of fried chicken. As for the beer, regional beers from each Super Bowl team will be on special.

Tavern on Broad (200 S. Broad St.)

For $25 per person, watch the game and enjoy endless drafts alongside wings and fries.

Taproom on 19th (2400 S. 19th St.)

The bar will sell discounted drink specials, such as $3.50 Yuengling bottles, $3 Chesterfield drafts, $10 Chesterfield pitchers, $2.50 Miller High Life, and more selected additions. All wings will be half off during the game.

Varga Bar (941 Spruce St.)

Not only can you watch two teams face off on TV, but you can watch chef Jay Cook square off against head chef/owner of Varga Bar Evan Turney as a wing competition will take place at the restaurant. Since it is a wing competition, wings will be on special as well as beer and selected whiskey.

Xfinity Live! (1100 Pattison Ave.)

If free parking (during the game) and large venues gets you excited, Xfinity Live! is a great place to watch the Super Bowl. Plus, there's a number of different bars spread throughout the building, making it easy to find the perfect spot for you.

Grab and go

For those keeping the party at home, here are some options for those who are hosting.

Fette Sau (1208 Frankford Ave.)

For those who love to dig in on barbecue during game time, Fette Sau has you covered. Guests can choose from three different packages: For $190, you can get the Safety package that feeds 6-8 people and includes pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, and green beans or mac and cheese. For $320, you could order the Huddle package that feeds 10-12 people and includes all of the above with broccoli salad and smoked chicken legs/thighs. If you're a "go big or go home" type of guy, Fette Sau's third option—The Red Zone package feeds 18-20 people and includes everything in the other packages plus ribs, kraut, sausages, and coleslaw. That meal costs $656.

Gaslight (120 Market St.)

Chef Jason Cichonski's grab-and-go Super Bowl options vary with half tray or full tray platters, including options such as wings, baked mac and cheese, raw and pickled veggies, baked pretzels, meatballs, and chicken nuggets. If you have a big party you can choose the big 10 or 20 which features all of the food mentioned above plus pork sandwiches. These options range from $35-420.

Iron Hill Brewery (All locations)

All locations are offering a to-go growler and two pizzas of choice for $25.

Lolita (106 S. 13th St.)

The Mexican Restaurant is offering a Super Bowl Taco to-go feast for $150 and includes short ribs, carnitas, seared potato, mushrooms and greens with Pasilla chile, guacamole, salsa, chips, radish slaw, limes, tortillas, and pickled red onions. This platter serves 8 people.

DiBruno Bros. (All locations)

If your guests are split between Seahawks and Patriots fans, this package is a must for your party. DiBruno Bros. is offering a mini New England lobster roll platter for $30, and for Seattle fans they're offering a coffee-and-coriander-rubbed salmon taco kit for $30.

Wursthaus Schmitz (Reading Terminal Market)

If you and your guests love your sausages, this place is perfect for your party. Guests can choose from two options, the Grill Pack includes Bratwurst, Wiener, Hungarian Wurst, Bauerwurst, Speckwurst, Sauerkraut, potato salad, cucumber salad, and condiments to compliment the sauasages. The package runs at $59.95 for a serving fitting for 5-8 people, or $115.95 to serve 12-15 people. The other option is the Haus, everything included in the grill pack, but all cooked and ready to serve. This package runs at $69.95 for 5-8 people, or $125.95 to serve 12-15 people.
