Snoop Dogg goes Reggae? Introducing "Snoop Lion"

Yes folks, you read that headline correct. Snoop D-O-Double G has put out a new track called "La La La" off his forthcoming LP 'Reincarnated'. As if that wasn't enough, he's got a new name too; Snoop Lion.

Snoop Dogg goes Reggae? Introducing "Snoop Lion"

In what may seem like a publicity stunt to some, this surprising Snoop Dogg project has actually be in the works for quite some time now.  Back in March Diplo revealed that he was working on 18 tracks for none other than Hip-Hop icon Snoop Dogg.  Announcing that it was a reggae inspired, Snoop & Major Lazer collaboration, Diplo got us all excited for what could be one hell of a project.

Today we have gotten our hands on one of the first releases from Reincarnated titled "La La La".  All we have to say is wow.  Who knew Snoop had such scintillating vocals?  And as with many other Major Lazer productions, namely "Get Free", the reggae vibe is a perfect fit for the summer.

Considering that Diplo has taken over the majority of the Major Lazer productions, this LP will definitely possess elements from both his own original productions as well as that of Major Lazer.  Joining Diplo on the production of this album is Foreign Born member Ariel Rechsthaid, who has accompanied Diplo on a number of projects in the past, as well as upcoming releases.

While this attempt at a reggae album may come off as novelty for Snoop, it's definitely an ambitious approach to type of music that fits both his and Diplo's styles.  Reincarnated is expected out later this year.
