Promenades, festivals and more local ways to celebrate Easter

There are few things better than a visit from the Easter Bunny, some flowers, and some great holiday traditions.

There are few things better than a visit from the Easter Bunny, some flowers, and some great holiday traditions.

Take a hayride to the magical Bunnyland at Linvilla Orchards (598 Linvill Rd., Media) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday, April 4. Besides the bunny posing it up in his house, there'll be pony rides, face painting, train rides and more.

For two days, Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4, at Shadybrook Farm (931 Stony Hill Rd., Yardley), an Easter festival will take over the farm grounds with games, inflatables and treasure-filled eggs. The Egg-stravaganza runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Work up a calorie deficit on Saturday, April 4 for the Philly Rabbit Run, a 5K/1 mile run/walk through the Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Ave.). Registration and packet pickup begin at 7 a.m., and the race begins an hour later.

Two ingestible favorites — wine and candy — are paired in happy matrimony at Chaddsford Winery (632 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford) on Saturday, April 4. While you're sipping on their wines, from noon to 6 p.m., fill up on holiday candy favorites like Peeps, chocolate eggs and jellybeans.

All aboard the Easter Bunny Express! Departing and returning to the Wilmington and Western Railroad Greenbank Station (2201 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington) at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4, families will enjoy a 90-minute ride with the bunny of the weekend.

Ignore your seasonal allergies at Longwood Gardens (1001 Longwood Rd., Kennett Square) for springtime blooms both indoor and outdoor on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5. Try to get there between noon and 3 p.m. when harpist Gloria Galante will perform in the Conservatory.

Morey's Piers' Mariner's Pier (3501 Boardwalk, Wildwood) will open at noon on Sunday, April 5 for holiday-specific photos with everyone's favorite rabbit, games, and more until 6 p.m.

An annual event, the South Street Easter Promenade returns on Sunday, April 5 with a parade beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Passyunk Avenue and South Street. Come dressed in your Easter best for contests, photos with the Easter bunny and more.

Strut your stuff down the 300 block of the Washington Street Mall in Cape May for a 1 p.m. fashion stroll on Sunday, April 5. With categories like "Best Dressed Couple," "Best Easter Bonnet" and judging by age, there are chances for all ages to get in on the action.

The fashions continue to be on point, this time at the Easter Fashion Promenade at Ocean City's Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk) on Sunday, April 5. Judging begins at 1 p.m. Get ready for serious competition — prizes are available for best dressed.

And don't forget about the handful of egg hunts still yet to occur this weekend.
