Political cartoonists at The Nib take over Old City gallery for the DNC

Politics wouldn’t be politics without the artists that skewer our system, and in Old City, the political cartoonists at The Nib are, em, illustrating that fact throughout the Democratic National Convention.

Politics wouldn't be politics without the artists that skewer our system, and in Old City, the political cartoonists at The Nib are, em, illustrating that throughout the Democratic National Convention.

Dubbed "The Nib Takes Philly," the online comics publisher has taken over the Snyderman-Works Galleries at 303 Cherry St. to provide DNC attendees with some much-needed satire and artistic bite.

To accomplish the task, the Nib brought in beloved cartoonists like Matt Bors, Tom Tomorrow, and Pulitzer Prize-winner Ann Telnaes, among others, to produce everything from political cartoons and live-drawings to non-fiction and journalism. As a result, the site's "campaign headquarters" in Old City has been redecorated with plenty of new, politically focused work.

As a bonus, attendees can pick up a "Convention Bingo" card, as well caption their own picket signs in addition to taking in the art. Democracy at work, people.

The exhibit will be open from noon to 6 p.m. during the DNC's run in town through July 28. It is free to attend.
