#PhillyFive Things to Do: Oct. 16, 2014

You get what you wish for.

You get what you wish for.

For lo-fi sounds: The second annual (and Kickstarter funded) 8static Festival begins tonight at the First Unitarian Church (2125 Chestnut St.) featuring musicians who create tunes using old video game software and other tech goodies. Doors open at 6 p.m.

For a harvest: Hammonton Arts Center (219 Bellevue Ave., Hammonton, N.J.) is holding a Third Thursday event, starting at 6 p.m., with spirit conjuring, adult pumpkin decorating contest, refreshments and more.

For a taste of Spain: Get your hands dirty in the preparation of your tapas dinner — or just sit back and watch. No matter which route you take, you'll get to get your fill on the Spanish dish and sips of Spanish wine. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at Wayne Art Center (413 Maplewood Ave., Wayne).

For the hair-obsessed: Hairstyles from history's past are on display for one night only at The Historical Society of Pennsylvania (13th and Locust Streets). From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., taste some whiskey from WhistlePig Whiskey, munch on hors d'oeuvres and see as things get hairy.

For laughs: One of the funnymen featured on this year's Funny or Die Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival, Hannibal Buress, spent the entirety of his set in a jumper donning his own face. Hopefully he brings it out again when he stops by the Trocadero Theatre (1003 Arch St.) tonight for two shows: 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
