#PhillyFive Things to Do: May 2, 2015

There’s nothing like a little pure hearted fun to kick off the weekend.

There's nothing like a little pure hearted fun to kick off the weekend.

For a day down the shore: If the citywide festivals taking place today weren't enough, perhaps Ocean City's daylong block party, featuring over 350 crafters, restaurants, shops and live music, will do the trick. Check it out from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Asbury Ave. from 5th to 14th Streets.

For opening day: Today marks the 35th season for the Sesame Place (100 Sesame Rd., Langhorne). Complete with birthday decorations, a Neighborhood Birthday Party Parade and new rides, the park officially opens at 10 a.m. with character meet and greets.

For freebies: In honor of Free Comic Book Day, a costume contest, raffle and other giveaways, panels and scavenger hunt will go down at the Hamilton Mall (4403 E. Black Horse Pike) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For families: Party it up at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway) with kid-friendly art activities inspired by the museum's "Ink and Gold: Art of the Kano" exhibit. Expect gold leaf fan decorating, kimono demonstrations and temporary tattoos. The party runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For a show: Local art, music and fashion collective Cult Classic welcome iLoveMakonnen, Key! and Sony Digital for a 9 p.m. show at Underground Arts (1200 Callowhill St.).
