The first Tuesday of spring is proving to be quite rewarding.

For a look at addiction: Science has proven drugs' ability to affect how the brain behaves. However, what happens before any usage occurs? Top addiction research professionals from Temple University will speak on an individual's propensity for addiction at the Franklin Institute (222 N. 20th St.) at 7 p.m.

For zen: Take on some meditation and battle creeping stressors and negative thoughts at 7 p.m. with this Mindfulness Meetup at Baked Sunless Tanning (815 S. 4th St.).

For the time of your life: Baby and Johnny's twirling and prancing romance comes to the Academy of Music (Broad and Locust Streets) for opening night of "Dirty Dancing" The Classic Story On Stage." Curtains are at 7:30 p.m.

For dirty laundry: Come to L'Etage (6th and Bainbridge Streets) as StorySlammers share their secrets for a chance to win prizes and dazzle the audience. Have a dirty little secret you'd like to share? Take five minutes and StorySlam away. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the 8:30 p.m. show

For sashays: "Don't you know your queen?" asks Seattle songwriter Perfume Genius. Watch him bring his latest album, Too Bright, to life at Union Transfer (1026 Spring Garden St.) at 8:30 p.m.
