For a birthday: Not just a celebration, but a Seuss-abration, with Seuss storytime, crafts and Cat in the Hat snack-making at the Chestnut Hill Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia (8711 Germantown Ave.). The party begins at 3:30 p.m.

For dinner: Eat away the Monday blues with fried chicken, sticky buns and Kenzinger at Jerry's Bar (129 W. Laurel St.) for their First Monday Fried Chicken deal. You get it all for $20 starting at 6 p.m.

For a showcase: The first Monday of the month at FringeArts (140 N. Columbus Blvd.) is devoted to local arts groups showing off their latest works. Tonight's Scratch Night features new dance and theater and begins at 7 p.m.
