#PhillyFive Things to Do: Feb. 22, 2015

First things first: Your to-do list.

First things first: Your to-do list.

For brunch: Not only will you fill up on the most important meal of the day (featuring drink specials), but the Ardmore Music Hall (23 E. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore) will have a market set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with vendors, kids activities and live musicians.

For a winter wakeup: Mix and sip your own spring tonic — an herbal medicinal drink — that'll target your intestines and immune system at this two hour class, beginning at 1 p.m., at Morris Arboretum (100 E. Northwestern Ave.).

For families: Step into the world of Dr. Seuss with games, storytelling, crafts, obstacle courses and freeze dancing — all in (probably) Seuss-approved style. Kids and their parents can join in on the fun from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Grey Towers Castle at Arcadia University (450 S. Easton Rd., Glenside).

Based on the Barnes collection of African art, poets Sonia Sanchez, Philadelphia's first poet laureate, and Ja Jahannes, author of TruthFeasting, will read work and discuss their artistic inspirations with Evie Shockley, associate professor of English at Rutgers University from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Barnes Foundation (2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway).

For a deadly combo: Taste sweets in the cemeteryWest Laurel Hill Cemetery (215 Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd) — and learn about Philadelphia's confectionary history starting at 2 p.m. Indulge in an optional pairing of wine and truffles in addition to the other selection of chocolates and candies.
