Passion Pit finally play Philly

Somehow a band that started as nothing more than a Valentine's Day gift for singer Michael Angelakos' girlfriend has turned into the biggest buzz band to hit the blogosphere in years, Passion Pit.

Songs like "Sleepyhead" sound like a Korg demo on an LSD trip, complete with ethereal vocals and the grooviest beat since "Rapper's Delight." "Moth's Wings" from the band's new album Manners would be best described as movie soundtrack music, the kind of song that conjures images of the next Zach Braff vehicle.

For their first Philadelphia show ever, Passion Put will be bringing along Austrailia's The Grates and Washington DC's US Royalty. Be sure to catch this one-off before the band heads overseas for conceivably every European festival their is (Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Reading and Leeds).

Passion Pit with The Grates and US Royalty start at 8pm. 8.15.09 at the First Unitarian Church, 22nd and Chestnut. All ages. Sold out.
