PHS Pop-Up Garden takes it indoors this winter

If you thought pop-up gardens were strictly reserved for warmer months, sorry to burst your bubble, but the game is changing. Blooming indoors at the Shops at Liberty Place (1625 Chestnut St.), the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Pop-Up Garden will bring all the outdoor fun inside in the same theme as this year’s flower show: the movies.

If you thought pop-up gardens were strictly reserved for warmer months, sorry to burst your bubble, but the game is changing. Blooming indoors at the Shops at Liberty Place (1625 Chestnut St.), the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Pop-Up Garden will bring all the outdoor fun inside in the same theme as this year's flower show: the movies.

Opening Saturday, Feb. 14, the shops' rotunda will welcome beer and floral-loving patrons daily until Sunday, March 8.

Expect an epic space makeover, drinks from Barren Hill Tavern during happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily, as well as the exclusive PHS Horticulture Cider by Wyndridge Farm Cidery, music, food, movies and more to get you hyped for the main event: the Philadelphia Flower Show.

Speaking of which, you'll be able to procure your tickets for the show at the pop-up from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 20 and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 20.

Staying in theme of this year's flower show, an Oscars-viewing party is set to go down on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Shops at Liberty Place complete with red carpet and cocktails. You can get into the shindig for free with RSVP following the purchase of your Flower Show tickets.

An additional garden will call the Flower Show home at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (1101 Arch St.) from Saturday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 8 with all the same goodies plus some yummy additions: Burgers, popcorn chicken, tater tots, popcorn, cookies and a selection of beers including Yards, Guiness, Blue Moon and more.

Events set to take place there are tasting and appearances from big names like Ethan Wayne, son of John Wayne, on Saturday, Feb. 28, Dan Aykroyd on Friday, March 6 and Christina Milian on Saturday, March 7.

The movie-themed PHS winter pop-up garden in the Shops at Liberty Place will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The on-site Flower Show beer garden will be open for business from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, Sunday, March 1 and Saturday, March 7; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, March 2 through Friday, March 6 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8.
