Philadelphia boasts fifteen off-leash dog parks throughout the city. Schuylkill River Park has a renovated dog run with separate areas for dogs according to size. Numerous pet-centric events are also set in the park like last Sunday's "Pup Rally" to help kick off the Philly baseball season. We should also mention that you'll find biodegradable poop bags as well.
Columbus Square Park's free fenced in dog park allows pups (a maximum of three per owner) to run wild in South Philly. The park also features tree stumps for your pooch to play on.
Washington Lake Park in Washington Township, NJ features a family-friendly dog area within the park. The fenced in area is shaded and includes drinking areas.
The expansive Timber Creek Park in Gloucester Township, NJ gives canines 9 acres' worth of fenced in trails to explore and a small lake for swimming.
If your mutt is in the mood for a dip, a trip to Wilmington, DE may be in order. The off-leash dog pond at Carousel Farm Park will be the destination pick for those hot summer days. Since the area is not fenced, be wary of your dog's whereabouts.
The traditional block party gets a makeover at Liberty Lands Park for the BYOD(og) Bark Party on Saturday, April 12, starting at 11 a.m. Dogs can and meet and play while their owners enjoy food and raise money for Operation Ava.
Get in the mood for Easter on Saturday, April 12 at the PAWS for People Annual Bone Hunt at the Blue Hen Bed and Breakfast in Newark, DE. Bring your pets (and kids) as there are games and prizes for all. Arrive by 1 p.m. as the festivities start at 1:30 p.m.
Another fundraising event takes place in Franklinville, NJ at the Halo House Animal Resort. Their 12th annual Bullyfest on Saturday, April 19 features a rescue parade and pet photographer from noon until 4 p.m.
