National Constitution Center hosts First Friday event at Art in the Age
In conjunction with the National Constitution Center’s world-premiere exhibition, American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition, Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction will debut their latest exhibit during a special First Friday reception on February 1, 2013.
In conjunction with the National Constitution Center's world-premiere exhibition, "American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition", Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction will debut their latest exhibit "Art in the Age of Prohibition" during a special First Friday reception on February 1, 2013.
Art in the Age's exhibit, which features graphic illustrations by Philadelphia artist and writer Hawk Krall and other Prohibition-era artifacts, includes portraits of Smedley Butler, Benjamin Rush, and Max "Boo Boo" Hoff. Each portrait represents a real-life character who contributed a chapter to Philadelphia's colorful Prohibition story.
Now through April 28, 2013, be sure to also visit the National Constitution Center's "American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition" exhibit. Spanning from the dawn of the temperance movement, through the Roaring '20s, to the unprecedented repeal of a constitutional amendment, this world-premiere exhibition brings the whole story of Prohibition vividly to life.
