Halloween happens once a year and so do these 5 food specials being offered on Friday, Oct. 31.

Halloween happens once a year and so do these 5 food specials being offered on Friday, Oct. 31.

If you're in need of a sugar boost and happen to be in a Halloween costume, five Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops are offering a free doughnut with a presentation of your outfit this year. No tricks needed. Times vary per location.

Starting at 5 p.m., Chipotles across the U.S. are offering $3 burritos, tacos, bowls, salads, and kids items for all who dress in costume. Proceeds up to $1 million will go towards the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, a program committed to creating a sustainable and healthy food supply.

Costume requirements are not needed at Shake Shack (2000 Sansom St., 3200 Chestnut St.) to enjoy their Halloween specials being offered. Give your stomach a quick fix with Shake Shack's Halloweenie, a Vienna all-beef hotdog wrapped in bacon topped with pumpkin maple mustard, and wash it down with a refreshing Shack O' Lantern Shake, vanilla custard with pumpkin, maple, and spices. The burger joint opens at 10:30 a.m. (University City), 11 a.m. (Rittenhouse).

What's better than pumpkin beers on Halloween? If you're over the age 21 and have a costume on, the Devil's Den (1148 S 11th St.) is offering $1 off all pumpkin beers at the bar. The gastropub offers 11 gourd-y brews, here's a few to enjoy: 2013 Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, 2013 Fegley's Brew Works Devious Imperial Pumpkin, Ace Pumpkin Cider, and DuClaw Pumpkin Retribution Bourbon Barrel Aged. Bar opens at 11 a.m.

If you've been to the Treemont (231 S 15th St.), you may have noticed that all of the cocktails are named after Sherlock Holmes. This Halloween, the restaurant pays double homage to the fictional detective by offering a special three-course pairing themed after the stories. The three-course food menu includes English ale pickled eggs, roasted beef with Yorkshire pudding, and sherry syllabub. Reservations are recommended. Restaurant opens at 4:30 p.m.
