Are you craving some adventure and romance this weekend? The East Lynne Theater Company’s production of Zorro!, which opened on July 23 and runs until Aug. 30, is playing at the First Presbyterian Church in Cape May, N.J., and after the Friday, Aug. 8th 8:30 p.m. performance, they are hosting a special reception to help raise money for the Cape May Community Food Closet, starting at 10 p.m.

This adaptation of the Zorro legend by James Rana tells the story of how an ordinary citizen carries out his own version of vigilante justice against a corrupt governor in Old California. Donning a mask and a cape, he uses his fancy sword skills to save the day. It seems fitting then that after watching Zorro protect his people, that you get to be a hero in your own way by helping those in need in the Cape May County community. By treating yourself to a special Meet the Cast Reception after the show, you will be making a contribution to Community Food Closet, which helps those living below the poverty line. According to a report done by the New Jersey Poverty Research Institute in 2011, that is a number that has been growing. At the reception, you can munch on hors d'oeuvres and sandwiches and spend time with the members of the cast while at the same time giving back to those in need. A win-win, right?

Tickets for the reception are $10 and two-thirds of the proceeds go to Food Closet. Reservations are appreciated. The show itself is $30; $25 for seniors, $15 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Call 609-884-5898 or email at eastlynneco@aol.com.
