M.I.A. was "Born Free"

Some of the most anticipated music of the year has finally hit the blogosphere. M.I.A. just dropped what could be the first single from her new, untitled record. If you were expecting another "Paper Planes," you're out of luck. Want a Suicide-meets-Yeah Yeah Yeahs-via-TV on the Radio fuzzed out punk track? Bingo.

Some of the most anticipated music of the year has finally hit the blogosphere. M.I.A. just dropped what could be the first single from her new, still-untitled record. If you were expecting another “Paper Planes,” you’re out of luck. Looking for a Suicide-meets-Yeah Yeah Yeahs-via-TV on the Radio fuzzed out punk track? Bingo.

Heavy on the bass and vocal reverb, “Born Free” is definitely kind of unexpected, but extremely welcome. There’s no actual information about the track yet, but expect it on June 29th with the rest of M.I.A.’s new record. Wanna actually hear it? Check it out via Pitchfork.
