As a young Patches O'Houlihan once said, "dodgeball is a sport of violence, exclusion, and degradation." Incidentally, it will also soon return to the Philadelphia area in the form of a local qualifier for the 2016 Ultimate Dodgeball Championship.
The twist: Ultimate Dodgeball is played on a trampoline court. Peter LaFleur, eat your heart out.
Sky Zone trampoline parks in Oaks, Levittown, and Glen Mills will host local qualifier rounds beginning on Monday, June 6 at 6 p.m. During those events, local teams of five to eight dodgeballers will duke it out for a chance to win $50,000 at the Las Vegas championship in August.
The schedule for the local qualifiers, via a release, is as follows:
Last year, Team Awesome of Sky Zone Gaithersburg took home the championship. In March, several members of the team were featured in a profile on the sport from ESPN's Sports Center.
Team registration for the qualifier is currently open.
