Local establishments celebrate National Dog Day

Throughout the week, local Philadelphia shelters, restaurants and parks honor the holiday with free baths, snacks, and more.

Wag your way to these events:

Uptown Beer Garden (1735 Market St.) teams up with PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) on Monday, Aug. 24 for Yappy Hour. From 5 to 6:30 p.m., visitors of the location will be able to enjoy drink specials as well as meet dogs for adoption. You're also allowed to bring your own pet, just make sure he's trained. Proceeds from the event go towards the animal society.

In honor of National Dog Day, Dilworth Plaza hosts two days of puppy fun on Tuesday, Aug. 25 and Wednesday, Aug. 26. On Wednesday: From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., head over to the Dog Days booth for informational discussions on pet care, retail products, and more. On Wednesday Aug. 26 the park hosts a SIPS Yappy Hour that welcomes dogs and their owners from 5 to 7 p.m. Each day, PAWS will be on site with cute dogs up for adoption.

Beginning at 5 through 8 p.m., Hotel Monaco celebrates National Dog Day on Wednesday, Aug. 26 with a free bath for all canines. As your furry friend gets pampered, enjoy a special "dogs and suds" happy hour menu at Red Owl Tavern—it's right next door.

Don't keep your pup at home while you enjoy a ball game, take them with you! The Camden Riversharks (401 Delaware Ave.) will host Bark in the Park on Sunday, August 30 at 1:35 p.m. Not only will you enjoy the baseball game, your dog will, too!

On Saturday, Aug. 29 through Sunday, Aug. 30 Square 1682 (121 South 17th St.) will host a BYOD (bring your own dog) weekend brunch menu featuring human and doggy food items. For you: Aisde from the brunch menu, sip on cocktails named after Snoopy, Lassie, and Toto. For your hound: Choose a specialty menu just for them featuring chicken, beef, eggs, and more. $1 from each dog bowl will be donated to Lulu's Rescue. This deal is also offered all day on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
