Kid-friendly Halloween parties around Philadelphia

With Halloween approaching on Saturday, Oct. 31, we're sure you have your kids costume all planned out – but do you have a idea on where to go?

Here are some great family-friendly costume events for the little ones.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, Sunday, Oct. 18, Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25, the Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Ave.) offers creepy crawly fun for kids during Boo at the Zoo. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy trick-or-treating on the grounds, get hands-on in animal workshops, and find some goodies during a scavenger hunt.

Sesame Place (100 Sesame Road) gets spooky on Saturday, Oct 17, Sunday, Oct. 18, Saturday, Oct. 24, Sunday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 31 as The Count hosts his annual Halloween Spooktacular. Throughout the weekends, visitors will be able to take part in a parade, walk through a magical maze, and get some exercise in with a jack-o-lantern jump. Candy, of course, will be given out, too! Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Main Street in Manyaunk celebrates Halloween a bit early with an all-day fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 24. Things get started at 8 a.m. with a flea market, followed by trick-or-treating, costume parades, pumpkin carving and more. Cap your night off with a family-friendly screening of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" at 6:30 p.m.

Beginning on Saturday Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 31, the Please Touch Museum (4231 Avenue of the Republic) invites parents to bring their little monsters to Halloween Hoopla: a celebration of all things creepy and crawly! Programs throughout the span include arts and crafts, science workshops, eerie storytime, and dance parties. Hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Witches, ghosts, superheroes, and more will take over the streets of East Passyunk on Saturday, Oct. 24 during the return of Fall Fest and Spooky Saturday. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids can decorate pumpkins, take part in a competitive costume contest, and fill their bags up with candy.

If you're lugging the kids around while you shop, make it a fun one for them at the Philadelphia Mills (1455 Franklin Mills Circle) on Saturday, Oct. 31. From 5 to 7 p.m., kids dressed in costumes can participate in games, giveaways, and grab some candy during a mall-wide trick-or-treating walk.

Historic Franklin Square (200 N. 6th St.) gets into the fall activities with a Trick-or-Treat Trail on Saturday, Oct. 31, when kids can create their own candy bag, stroll the park, and receive tasty snacks along the way. Things get started at noon.

If you're at the Shore, dress up the tots and head to North Wildwood for Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, Oct. 31. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., decorated cars line up at 900 Central Avenue and will hand out seasonal delights to all in costume.
