Gay To Do: NSFW, Stimulus, and more

Your top gay calendar picks for the week of Nov. 20-26.

QOTA Under the Trees

Queer on the Avenue, a monthly LGBT networking event on East Passyunk Avenue, returns Thursday November 20th at Urban Jungle (1528 E. Passyunk Ave.). This annual installment is QOTA's most popular, with attendees gathering under the festive and fabulous holiday decorations of this urban garden. Complementary light bites and beverages from Sailor Jerry and Pennsylvania Buckingham Valley Vineyards will be provided. MANNA will be there sampling pies and taking orders.

Pies sold by MANNA provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need at the holidays. Doors at 6:00pm. No cover.

Sissy Hop

After QOTA, make your way over to queer soul night Sissy Hop at the The Dolphin Tavern (1539 S. Broad St.). This edition features familiar tunes from popular artists plus their B-Side gems as well. Sissy Hop goers can expect girl groups, motown hits, rockabilly and stax bangers (whatever they are).

DJ John Morrison guest DJs with usual resident Nolita Selector. Doors at 10:00pm. $5 cover.

NSFW: Hanky Panky

NSFW is living by the hanky code this month at Medusa Lounge (27 S. 21st St.) on Friday, November 21st. Party organizers Marquise Lee and Paul Blore have cultivated a twink cult following for their bangers and this one should be no exception. Party goers are asked to don their kink via a strategically placed handkerchief. What color and what side you wear it can communicate very different things. So make sure you do your research before you go.

Doors at 10:00pm. No cover.

Stimulus Party: Black and White Party

The biggest happening on the Stimulus Philly calendar, the Black and White Party, is back for the sixth year at Voyeur Nightclub (121 S. James St.) on Friday, November 20th.  Governed by birthday girls Amber Hikes and Morgan Alexis, Philly's leading lesbian institution welcomes all members of the queer community to get wet and wild. With shot girls, go-go dancers, and drink specials galore, that shouldn't be a difficult feat. DJs Jovi Baby, Precolumbian and Deluxx spin.

Doors at 10:00pm. $10 cover before midnight.

We're Here, We're Queer, We're Used to It

At the William Way Community Center (1315 Spruce St.), State of Young Philly host "We're Here, We're Queer, We're Used To It", a discussion on the needs of the LGBT community and spaces on Saturday, November 22nd. This event seeks to get the pulse of millennials from the LGBT community and find out what their needs are (and aren't) as the LGBT community continues to evolve.

From noon to 1:30pm. Free. To register.

Pink Pub Crawl and Ball

Philadelphia's Pink Pub Crawl returns on Thanksgiving Eve with Lance Bass leading the way. To kick-off the holiday season on a festive note, this year's annual event will be hosted by the former N'Sync band mate alongside Philly's own drag queen Brittany Lynn.

This year's Pink Pub Crawl will begin 8:00pm at Tabu Sports Bar and Lounge (200 S. 12th St.), continue to The Field House (1150 Filbert St.) and end at the Trocadero Theatre (1003 Arch St.). The Troc will host a Pink Ball with international DJ superstars Chus + Ceballos from Spain. Chus + Ceballos have quite the club cult following, with official remixes of Madonna and performance gigs from across the globe on their resume.

Tickets cost $25 in advance and $25 the night of the event for those wearing pink. $35 for those not. Ticket includes one drink at each stop on the crawl plus admission to the Ball. Tickets will be limited to 300 people for the Pink Pub Crawl portion of the evening.

Advanced tickets for the Ball will cost $25 for the first 200 tickets sold. Cost at the door to be determined. For tickets.
