Gay To Do: 'Kinky Boots,' Dining Out, & more

Kinky Boots

The fabulous smash-hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots has already stormed into Philly, and will run at the Forrest Theatre (1114 Walnut St.) until Sunday, May 10. Boots tells the story of Charlie Price who forms an unlikely partnership with drag queen Lola to save his struggling shoe factory. Based on the British film of the same name, the 2013 Tony award-winning musical features a score by Cyndi Lauper and book by Harvey Feinstein.

Dining Out For Life

On Thursday, April 30, more than 200 restaurants across the Delaware Valley will donate 33% of the night's proceeds to benefit men, women and children with HIV/AIDS. Dining Out for Life was started in Philadelphia by ActionAIDS, and this year they are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fundraising effort. So get out and about with your besties and dine for a great cause.

Aiden James Live

Singer songwriter Aiden James returns to the World Café Live (3025 Walnut St.) for another evening of song on Friday, May 1. Celebrating the release of his latest single "Last Reminder", James will perform some other new selections as well to his hometown crowd.

WayGay Woman's Field Day

The William Way Community Center will host the third annual WayGay Women's Field Day on Saturday, May 2. Over 100 women and allies will gather at The Albatross (254 W. Walnut Ln.) for a fun-filled springtime social. Activities include beer pong and flip cup tournaments, corn hole competitions, volleyball and badminton. All proceeds from the event will benefit the William Way.

Maria Bello

Actress and author Maria Bello is stopping by Giovanni's Room (345 S. 12th St.) on Sunday, May 3 to promote her newest memoir, Whatever ... Love is Love: Questioning the Labels We Give Ourselves. Bello will discuss the book with local writer Gary Kramer and answer additional questions from the audience. So brush up on Bello's filmography and grab a seat (early) to hear her personal journey of self-discovery.
