We've all been there, pairing that pale ale with the wrong meal. On Tuesday, Oct. 21 Ferment Your Event co-founders Tara Nurin and craft beer specialist Gary Rosen collaborate with Ella Bistro's chef, Jay Chadwick for an informative dinner at Wayne Art Center (413 Maplewood Ave.) that will show guests the art of pairing beer and food together. The tickets are $45 and begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Geographical Society of Philadelphia visits Szechuan restaurant Jane G's (1930 Chestnut St.) for a journey through China with 12-different courses prepared by Chef Lou on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. savor the flavors of Shanghai with soup dumplings, eat Canton region squid, and enjoy other preparings throughout the evening. Not only will the flavors have you in awe, the guest speaker for the evening, Ryan Pyle, shares his incredible story about his 18000-km journey across China. Dinner is $100 for members, $125 for non-members.

Gambling isn't just what Valley Forge Casino (1160 1st Ave.) is about. On Wednesday, Oct. 22 the Timothy School for Autistic Children throws the Take a Bite out of Autism event which benefits the school for future updates and technology advancement in the classroom. $50 gets you signature plates from local Delaware County Restaurants such as Viviano, Pacific Prime, Amedeo's Distinctive Catering, Margaret Kuo', and Aneu Catering and Events.

Play your part in October on Thursday, Oct. 23 as the fifth annual Rock the Ribbon celebration takes place at Vie (600 N Broad St.) for a Black and White themed gala. Tickets start at $100 and all proceeds benefit the programs and services of Breastcancer.org. Expect dinner, desserts, and tons of dancing. Starts at 6 p.m.

It's spooky season. Instead of munching on candy bars and getting cavities, try out some local Philadelphia favorite foods during Chew Philly's Haunted Tours. On Friday, Oct. 23 taste seven different selections and hear about local ghost stories that took place in Manayunk, Roxborough, and the Wissahickon. Each tour guest will receive a complimentary autumn drink, and a Halloween swag bag. Tickets are $36 and starts at 11:30 a.m.
