All throughout this week, the city of Philadelphia and its surrounding areas have events that certainly run a broad range for all food and drink cravings. Whether you fancy the distinct flavor of juniper berries, want a little exotic flavor from the great outback, or just want a quick meal while you play outside, this week will be a great one for your stomach urges.

You can have all the liquor bottles in the world but that doesn’t mean you can create a decent cocktail. On Monday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m., the folks over at the Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. in Center City are showing the ways of a balanced cocktail featuring a workshop about the spirit derived from juniper berries, gin. The class cost is $130 per person and will have guests walking out with a better understanding and seasonal trends of this spirit.

Up in Conshohocken, chef/owner Chip Roman and chef de cuisine Yianni Arhontoulis are bringing the flavor from Down Under to Blackfish Restaurant on Tuesday, Aug. 26 as they host an Aussie Black Truffle dinner. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. guests will taste dishes such as duck and truffle roulettes, and an albacore and truffle ballotine, just to name a few. Dinner is $65 and is BYOB.

On Wednesday, Aug. 27 the American Sardine Bar in South Philadelphia will have your taste buds screaming “Wham bam thank you, Spam” as the gastro pub whips up some special dishes from this canned food with rather hard-to-find-flavors like jalapeño, hot and spicy, and bacon. Dishes for the night include Spam Pandesal Sliders, Spam Corndogs, Spam n cheese, and more. This pay-as-you-go event begins at 6 p.m. and will continue until they run out.

The forecast for Thursday, Aug. 28 screams for an outdoorsy day, and at 6 p.m. the Franklin Square in Center City encourages people to come out as regional food trucks (Farm Truck Philly, Sweet Box Cupcakes, and Moo BBQ to name a few) line up along the park during Food Truck Festivus. As you satisfy your hunger, participate in these summer games before fall takes away the opportunity: Volley, horseshoes, and more.

A morning pick-me-up and an evening delight collaborate on Saturday, Aug. 30 as Elixr Coffee and Little Baby’s ice cream present Affogato Days. The final installment of this series features seasonal ice cream from Little Baby’s and is paired with a selected brew from Elixr Coffee Shop. This sweet pairing has vegan options available and starts at 7 a.m. at Elixr Coffee Shop in Center City.
