Five things to do today – dog wash, block party, improv jazz

You do know that these are for you, right?

You do know that these are for you, right?

For twilight biking: The Iron Hill Twilight Race Series starts at 8 a.m. with amateur bike trials, a community festival, block party and kids race at 4 p.m., professional bike races 6:45 p.m. and more in Downtown West Chester, Pa. (between Gay and High Streets).

For dirty dogs: If the smell of your dog has you denying the urge to cuddle, take them to Trestle Inn's first-ever Dog Wash from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All money raised at the Center City affair will benefit the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, so you can feel good and your pooch will, too.

For soccer action: For the second summer, the Guinness International Champions tournament hosts matches from international soccer clubs across venues in the United States and Canada. The ninth game of the tournament takes place today at Lincoln Financial Field at 1 p.m. featuring international soccer clubs Inter Milan and AS Roma.

For improvisational jazz: Improv violinist Diane Monroe will perform with pianist Luke O'Reilly at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for a two-hour concert starting at 4 p.m. Originally scheduled performer John Blake Jr. (who had to cancel due to unforeseen health issues) hand selected Monroe to play in conjunction with the Center City museum's "Spiritual Strivings: A Celebration of African American Works on Paper" exhibit.

For outdoor movies: Street Movies!, an initiative by Scribe Video Center to bring independent films to different Philadelphia neighborhoods, begins its run in Hunting Park in North Philly tonight at 7:45 p.m. Short films concerning education in the neighborhood will screen. In the case of some inclement weather, the evening will turn to the Hunting Park Recreation Center.
