Five things to do today – book signing, ‘Jaws’ party, burlesque show

Let's kick it indoors today, shall we?

Let's kick it indoors today, shall we?

For a "little" performance: The musical version of E.B. White's classic Stuart Little hits the stage at Absecon, N.J.'s Stockton Performing Arts Center for one day only today. Curtains are at 10:30 a.m.

For a tasty science experiment: Kids ages 10 and up can turn cream and sugar into edible ice cream at 3 p.m. at the Haddon Township Branch of the Camden County Library system in Collingswood, N.J.

For a book signing: Local author Jon McGoran will sign and read from his new book, Deadout and discuss shrinking honeybee populations, food security, GMOs and more at the Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill starting at 6 p.m.

For a fin-tastic evening: You might want to stay out of the water during the Trestle Inn's Jaws screening at 8 p.m. tonight in Center City. Get your hands on special retro Narragansett cans (as seen in the 1975 movie) or a whiskey and wings special: six wings, Sailor Jerry shot and Narragansett can for $10.

For a different kind of variety show: Beauty and brains converge at Bourbon and Branch in Northern Liberties for a burlesque and variety show centering on mid-century poetry and burlesque dancing. Happy (half) hour starts at 8:30 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. for 21 and older guests.
