Don't wait — get out there!

For a sporting event: Today is start of the National Veterans Wheelchair Games at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. An expo with information and vendors opens at 9 a.m., opening ceremonies kick off at 6 p.m. with a welcome reception to follow at 7 p.m.

For a salty snack: See a behind-the-scenes look at how Snyder's of Hanover pretzels are made at their factory in Hanover, Pa. Tours are given at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays year-round.

For a battle between head and heart: PAFA MFA Faculty Exhibition Award-winning artists Yoni Hamburger and Ashley Wick worked to create art that examines the mind's emotions, memories and desires. "Heads and Hearts" is on view at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Center City. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

For story time: Tots up to age two will love the music, rhyming and games that go along with this 10:30 a.m. story time at the Elkins Park Free Library in Elkins Park, Pa.

For an acrobatic evening: The Franklin Institute is doing flips over their latest temporary exhibit, "Circus! Science Under the Big Top" and now they're inviting over-21 guests to an after-hours party in Logan Square. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. explore the exhibit and try your hand at acrobatics and juggling with demonstrations by the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts and see a fire-breathing display from Olde City Sideshow. Also available are fair games and circus-suitable bites.
