Five things to do today – PHAIR, sidewalk chalk competition, standup comedy

The best part about long weekends is events like this.

The best part about long weekends is events like this.

For a street art competition: When I say street art, I actually mean sidewalk art. Starting at 9 a.m. at Wildwood, NJ's 8th Street Field sidewalk chalk illustrators will sketch their best drawings in hopes of being crowned North Wildwood's Sidewalk Chalk Champ. Judging begins at 10:45 a.m.

For more patriotic fun: Don't pack away those red, white and blue clothes just yet. Fort Mifflin's Freedom Blast offers tours of the Southwest Philadelphia-located fort as well as cannon demonstrations and history activities. The rain or shine event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For a weekend market: Stroll over to Historic Headhouse Square, just a block away from South Street, for a leisurely shopping experience at PHAIR Open Air Market. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. pick up various vintage, art and jewelry items while sampling chow from area food trucks.

For creative families: Observe some of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's top portraits and then paint your own from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the museum on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway's Education Studio.

For a performance from a "king": Star of CBS's King of Queens, Kevin James performs stand-up at the Borgata in Atlantic City at 8 p.m.
