City Tap House Pumpkin Smash 2012

City Tap House will be hosting one of the East Coast’s largest pumpkin beer celebrations on Sunday, October 7th. 25+ pumpkin beers on tap!

When Fall rolls around most everyone is looking forward to consuming any and everything involving pumpkin, and one of the most delicious unions is between beer and pumpkin. Spicy, comforting, potent, it's a real pleasure to down a pumpkin ale. In the spirit of this city's love of outdoor festivals that involve some time of imbibing and food consumption, this Sunday October 7th, City Tap House in West Philly will be hosting one of the East Coast's largest pumpkin beer celebrations! There will be more than 25 pumpkin beers on tap which you can have poured into a keepsake glass ($10). Pumpkin lovers will also get the chance to literally stuff  their pie holes in the pumpkin pie eating contest.

The main brewery at this event is Washington state's Elysian Brewing Company, you'll get to try their Night Owl Pumpkin Ale (which I highly recommend btw), Hansel & Gretel Ginger-Pumpkin Pilsner and Dark O the Moon Pumpkin Stout. I had the Night Owl for the first time recently and it was one of the most delicious and balanced pumpkin ales that I've tried in recent years, so I recommend picking up a six pack of that. In addition to brews from Elysian there will also be a few other pumpkin ales from other breweries being poured for the first time in Philly.

When: Sunday Oct 7th 1 p.m-6 p.m

Where: The Radian Balcony, 3925 Walnut Street

Features: Loads of great beer, pumpkin pie eating contest, live music, appearance from Elysian Brewing Company head brewer Dick Cantwell.
